Make-Up : Abstract and Review!

Hey everyone!!

It's super mild out lately so wearing a jacket is pretty optional. I've got all the windows and patio door open. All the spring clothes are pretty much out.

I still need spring shoes. All I have is the winter boots.

Speaking of spring, I got a beautiful palette from the SHOP MAC collection.
How have I never worn tangerine!?

"Call Me Bubbles"

When debating on this or another palette, the MAC Artist said that this palette is rare. Such a great palette all together. I've worn it often.

"Call Me Bubbles"
A really soft white. Almost the perfect highlight!
Satin.

"Fresh Daily"
Tangerine colour. Good for blending.
Frost.

"Full of Flavour"
MAC's website calls it coral, but there's more pink than normal coral colours. It's not far off though.
Matte.

"Brash"
Best explained as 'burnt orange'. Kind of frosty but great for making a interesting smokey colour.
Veluxe Pearl.

SWATCHES

L to R:
Full of Flavour; Fresh Daily; Call Me Bubbles; Brash

Sorry the swatches aren't the greatest!

-----------------------------------------

Today I decided to do something a little abstract.
This is what I got:

I'm not entirely sure what prompted this but felt like playing with some bright colours. I may do something else another day, but that's another day.

I kind of feel that if I had straight-across bangs, it would look better. My cow-lick is evil.

Maybe I'll try a eyeliner design next time!

Okay well I'll probably do another spring tutorial later this week.

Mini Makeup Review

Hey everyone!

So I'm doing a mini makeup review.

When I say mini, I really mean it. Like 2 items lol

I will be doing another CD review of LMFAO, Down With Webster and Nickelback since my last one seemed to be so loved.

First I'm talking about the TokiDoki Adios palette
Includes glitter white, icy gray shimmer, matte black, matte slate gray

Front - closed

Bottom - opened. Glue is where the charm is

Upclose. You can see the neat characters

The shadows up close - natural light

SWATCHES

Side view - natural light

Natural light - names

With flash

Again with flash

Charm beside the case.

I find the shadows somewhat chalky and when you barely touch them - to apply - they become very powdery. They aren't very pigmented and it takes a few coats to get the black to be very noticed. It is very matte though, which is hard to find. So many black shadows look matte but aren't.

Price: Sephora.com says 19$ [25$ value] but I got it on sale.

Over all I'd give it
3.5/5 Stars

Great colours, would be better for younger kids though. Matte black is a bonus though.

MAC Mineralized Blush in "Dainty"

When I stopped into MAC, I was searching for something that was soft and glowy.
Something that would transition to spring/summer but could also be multi-use.

I'm not 100% but I believe this blush is in the "Naturally" collection. There was so many choices and I almost went with "Summer Haze" but after talking to one of the MAC Artist there [whom I adore - he's such a sweetheart and got me into pigments!]

So this is the colour we decided would be great for my skin tone.

Up close

Attempted swatch. It's very sheer.

Closed

Base.

If you're looking for a more glow blush that's quite sheer, this is definitely great. Fair skin tones best but I can't imagine it being horrible on more tanned skin.
Of course, you should test it to see if it's right for you.

I am going to get more mineralized blushes. They're gorgeous!

Price: 26.50$ Canadian

4.5/5 stars
Down side: very sheer so it seems to be barely there or too much. Somewhat hard to blend out.

No one asked me to review this. All personal opinions and does not reflect the company.

Holidays, MAC, Video and More!

Hey Everyone!

Well packing for move is coming along quite well. I was kind of avoiding doing the bedroom but the other day I finally got it done. There's a bunch of fragile stuff that is going to be brought over separately [one bonus of moving from parents house ...]

It's a mere 23 days till it all happens!

So I was cruising YouTube while my video uploaded and saw the XSparkage site and she had the MAC holiday collection up. Just as a heads up, I got these pictas from her page. Link with pictas.

This is the full collection

Eloquent Air Lipstick

Such Flare Lipstick

Fancy Moves and Smooth Manoeuvre Technakohls

Frozen Blue and Winterized Mineralized Eyeshadows

To find out more on the collection, and a credit to where I got the pictas is here

As Christmas draws near, there's many things I've been doing - other than packing I swear! - and that's getting xmas gifts together plus HOLiDAY ViDEO LOOKS

I'm not big on Hallowe'en things because I don't feel that what I do compares even close to what's out there. I don't mean that my holiday looks are great, just I can have more options with Christmas parties, Christmas itself and New Years. [Plus other holidays that are celebrated] I think they're a little more fun because it's sparkle, shimmer and glitter. I don't know what it is about it, I'm really not a winter fan but I love how it sparkles. The snow, ice, etc is so inspiring.

Plus the holiday outfits are so pretty.

So far I only have one look, but I am definitely open to different ideas. Send me your pictas, colours, etc. I will definitely get them in!

Anyways so I finally did my tag video.

Miss Makeup Fairy blog.

Tag questions on youtube video.

Well, until next time lovelies!

Long Lost Beauty Blogger!

I'm not even saying hi, I'm just going to start off with
I AM SO SORRY FOR NOT BLOGGiNG SOONER!!!

Bad beauty blogger, bad!

Things have been so crazy lately nd i'm not even sure if I'm going to be able to cover all of it! I will be posting 2 videos at the bottom, so bare with me!

Earlier this month - just after my boyfriend stopped his co-op job - I lost my job. I was job hunting anyways, but there's a difference between wanting a new job and having to find a new job. So when I called him saying that I had lost my job, he met me. We went downtown so I could drop off resumes.

I actually have had 2 interviews from one of the places and just waiting to hear back. Hoping it'll be something good - the manager is waiting for a certain area to open up. I'm calling back this week to get a better idea where the standings are, but I know he's interested in me working there.

While we're not working, we have spent a lot of time together. Which is good because at the end of last week, he got kicked out of his house.

HAHAHA!!! Yeh, I'm not even joking. He lives at my house for now. We're both on the mad hunt for jobs so we can look at September move-out. We actually have our eyes on one apartment .... great price, heat/hydro included, etc.

---------

Okay so my boyfriend just got back from getting stuff from his parents' place [well, mum nd step dad's place] nd they're willing to help us with first nd last months rent. I'm so confused but I'm glad they're not fighting anymore, makes him less stressed.

So recently I haven't bought much - other than my haul video - except for Benefit BadGal lashes, a Sephora Safari Cosmetics bag in pink [becuz I didn't have a bag for my purse] nd also I got Clinique's "Take the Day Off" makeup remover ... best I have ever used! It's a little pricy but works amazingly!

NOW FOR THE ViDEOS i PROMiSED!!

Products Mentioned:
www.loosebutton.com
LuxeBox by LooseButton
- "Cowardly Lyin" China Glaze
- Day Serum by Elizabeth Grant [great for dry/older skin!!]
- Exfoliant by Dermalogical [really interesting - powder to paste! soft skin]
- Organic Olive Oil soap

Other:
- FitMe Foundation - Maybelline #115 [lightest possible - pink undertone]
- Pump $7 MAC
- Erase Paste [concealer] in 'fair' - Benefit
- "Like What You Sea?" eyeshadow - Benefit
- "Sugar Daddy" nail polish - Essie

MAC:
- "Center Stage" e/s [Mega Metals]
- "RetroSpeck" e/s
- "Wood winked" e/s
- "Stars N Rockets" e/s
- "Humid" e/s
- "Aqua" e/s [Fashion Flower]
- "Girl About Town" lipstick [VERY similar to "Lickable" - when you wear it, you can tell the difference]

EYELiNER TiPS & TRiCKS FOR SMALL EYES

I realized afterwards this is very similar to how Adele has her makeup done in various photos.

For the eyeshadow I just used MAC e/s in "Retrospeck" so you can clearly see the liquid liner.

- make a clean line from middle of eye to about 1/4 away from the edge of your eye
- make wing at 1/4 from edge of eye
- draw in line from inner eye [near nose] to where you started
- build clean line over middle of eye [like building half a circle]
- keep lines clean

Basic step-by-step of what the video says. [quickly done of course]

I should be doing a video soon that has a very bright, colourful eye colour. I had done it but needs to be re-done because the quality just wasn't right.

STAY COOL!

Caviar Dreams [part 1!!]

HEY M'LOVES!!!

I'm not sure how to describe lately to be honest. Some things are great - really great! - nd other things it's just like "Really? Are you kidding?"

Karma is being majorly in my favour, but i cannot say it's completely working. Certain situations are just working for me.
You never really realize what you have until you almost lose it.
Strong words spoken not so lightly.

Some moments i try not to over analyze but it's hard not to when you just know what could easily happen. Could BE easily happening. Let it ride out, you know?

More talk of moving happened. I'll have to get a 2nd job but i had a feeling i probably would have to.

I find out Monday [tomorrow] if i'm going to Montreal next month. Which will be exciting! I'm trying to save lots because i'll be using my credit card nd then i'll just pay it off when i get home [i only have a certain amount of interact usage per month]

Saving is hard I find. So many times i wanna just go spend it all!! Guhhh so complicated. Trying though.

I finally was able to do a video for the Caviar Dreams palette from MAC [Cham-pale line]

I'm recording the other look i use with this palette soon - pending lighting.

Enjoy!

WELCOME 2011!!!

Hey everyone!

Hope everyone had a great New Years nd stayed safe!

I didn't end up doing much because I started feeling really sick - so I had to cancel my plans. I felt so bad because we were making such amazing plans ... *le sigh* I'm re-scheduling our hangout anyways.

Tomorrow i'm going to dinner with a few friends. We're going to our fave buffet place and even though I'm kind of skeptical of it - someone is going nd she recently broke up with her bf - because I want to avoid drama. It's one of my resolutions. To avoid drama, I had far too much of it in 2010

Oh yes, I also got featured in El'Aundra's LRFF [Loyal Rewards Forward Follows]. Here's the link to my feature. Check out her blog!
http://www.elaundra.com/2010/12/lrff-katie.html

So also with the other photos from Christmas, you couldn't really see my hair. I recently styled it amazingly. Haha, i'm getting good!!

I'm very aware how volumenous it is! All hail the teasing brush! Haha, it's great!

I've already started planning a few things for 2011!
This weekend i'm going to C's place [hopefully the boots will be in - it's her xmas gift!] We haven't really hung out in awhile - last i saw her was her stag&doe nd she was so busy, didn't see her much. This will be fun for sure :]

Sometime in the next couple months i'm going to Montreal [which is a 2hr drive from where i am now] either for a weekend or the day. Not sure. It'll be mum, me, mum's friend Lori nd Lori's daughter Sarah [who goes to Concordia - the performing arts school]

Hopefully this summer i'm going to NYC with my mum. For anyone who doesn't know my mother, she is in love with that city. I'm not obsessed, but i wanna visit. We're going to do the bus tour - like she did before - and that way hotel nd stuff are included.

The 3rd trip is pending that I don't move this year - which is, once again, a goal - nd that's at the end of the year. Maybe between boxing day nd new years going somewhere south. Cuba is big this year, but we'll see. I'll know probably by August whether or not i'm going. Next New Years has to be awesome. I've decided that party is a must.

I'm trying to make the most of 2011, there was such downfalls of 2010 that the bad out lived the good.

Anyways, I did a tutorial New Years Eve .... here you go! Doing another soon because I love MAC's new line "Cham-pale"!!!
Might do another vid after i finish spending my christmas giftcards!

Time, Where Did You Go? Why Did You Leave Me Here .... Alone

After some thinking, I have decided that since I have NO idea what's going on with the Alberta job - the interviewer had such a pokerface! - that I figured it'd be best to think of a backup plan!

I have one somewhat set. Well technically 2 but both are in the same general idea.

Makeup.

It's my passion. It's my outlet. It's my love. It allows me to be creative and still work with people and everything! It's such an art and some people are AMAZiNG! Like Kandee Johnson! If you don't know who she is, idk what's wrong with you! Haha! She's seriously my idol.

Links:

Check her out.

There's lots of people on youtube who do makeup too but Kandee is def my fave!

I am quite lucky and happy that with my current job I can do varying style of makeup nd after seeing the pictas for MAC & Milk Fashion Show, I did my own version. Slightly different nd taken with iPhone, but you get the idea.

I think this may be a style you can only do with bright-ish colours. Not sure. Going to probably test out Sassy Grass with this style tomorrow.

Can't wait!! :D

Hating Countdowns So Bad!!

Good evening - night? - my lovlies!!

I'm currently sitting at my desk with hot chocolate [in the Cat in the Hat mug i stole from my mum], wearing a sweater nd fleece pj pants. Yes, i am freezing! Needless to say, autumn weather just snuck right up on us! Definatly the time to don the sweaters, cute boots nd hot chocolates!

Also the time of year we need to get serious about coats.

Fall coats are cute, but everyone needs a versitial coat that will take them somewhat into winter. I have a coat I got a couple years ago from Stitches [which is a very touch-nd-go store for me] nd it's a really nice brown coat. Warm. Not always great for serious winter, but generally i can wear it for awhile.

Mission: everyone go buy a coat! [water-proof!]

Personal mission: i need a decent coat that's warm nd water-proof. My fall coat isn't that water-proof, which makes things complicated on cold nd rainy days. You know the kind of days it's just crappy weather out nd you wanna stay in warm jammies nd watch movies or read all day? Well ... sometimes you need to go out. My point for a warm, water-proof jacket.

I actually almost had a video of today done. It would've been fine by now if Windows Movie Maker didn't fight with my QuickTime videos .... alas, i must find a new program that will allow me to edit QuickTime vids :[ Apparently QuickTime Pro is good, but idk.

Short version of today:
Got ready nd left in plenty of time.
Bus driver let me off at the wrong spot.
Got lost.
Back tracked like 4x
Finally got there.

For the record, this is the hotel that the interview

No idea what's up. The interviewer had a very good pokerface. [dead panned expression] I'll find out in 7 days [most like 6 days now cuz it's almost past midnight]

I hate waiting.

Headed to MAC nd Sephora today though!

Sephora:
Urban Decay Primer Potion
MakeUpForever HD Powder
Philosophy:Purity Cleanser [free sample]

MAC:
Shock-a-holic [eyeshadow - "dare to wear"]
Sassy Grass [eyeshadow - "dare to wear"]
Tenderling [blush]

Still need to get a kabooki brush nd pencil brush. Guh!

Anyways .... vids soon!!

i was never big on dinosaurs

Tomorrow is a pretty important day.

Interview day.

Which is actually lucky for you people because I'm also doing "a day in the life" tomorrow!! You'll get to see my house, downtown Ottawa, nd other various places. It's gonna be a mish-mash of clips nd it'll make sence in the end ... I hope.

The past few days I've been whitening my teeth with Crest White Strips so they're looking quite sparkly :] Plus brushing nd flossing of course! It's just a nice thing. I have avoided anything that could stain my teeth nd drinking lots of water. Best not take any chances haha!

After my interview I wanna go to the mall nd check out MAC nd Sephora. I need a new blush because I dropped mine yesterday. It was low so that's no biggie. I rarely use that blush, but because of my friend's wedding in February I wanna get it. She may wear it. It's a nice soft blush called Tenderling for the record. I've also been debating on getting the Naked Palette from Sephora .... I need an eye primer anyways. Urban Decay primer potion seems good. Haven't heard/read any bad reviews so that's a bonus!

In other news, we think my mum's spider - Milika - might be dead. *tear* I was never a huge fan of her - or spiders in general - but still. She's like 6 or 7 yrs old, BUT I say 'might' because Yahoo Answers say she could be molting! We'll know in about 3 days for sure. I'm not sure what I'm hoping for honestly.

Tomorrow is going to be busy. Guess I should crash early??

Night!
Luck and love!
